Also, we urge you to call 1-866-OUR-VOTE (English)/ 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (Spanish) and confirm your registration.
This is to encourage all of you to seriously think about voting early because of the anticipated record-breaking number of anticipated voters on Nov. 4.
Although the polls are gearing up for the large number of voters, there may be voters who are unable to vote simply because the polls can not accommodate the massive number of voters, particularly those who come to vote before 10am and after 2pm. Once the polls can legally close, they do not have to stay open, even if there are long lines of voters.
There seems to be a misunderstanding that Early Voting has passed. That is absolutely untrue. Early voting takes place until Monday, Nov. 3. There are even some Saturdays (Oct. 18 & 25 and Nov. 1) and Sundays (Oct. 26 and Nov. 2) scheduled for early voting. There are days during the week, Monday - Friday with evening hours until 6pm.
As you know, your vote counts. One way to insure that you get the opportunity to vote is to VOTE EARLY.

New Mexico Governor, Bill Richardson, met on Tuesday, Oct. 28th, with Latino community leaders from central and south-west Ohio.
Gov. Richardson is serving his second term as Governor of New Mexico. He was re-elected in 2006 with the support of 69 percent of voters, representing the largest margin of victory for any Governor in state history. He was supported by Democrats, Republicans and Independents, winning in both urban and rural counties New Mexicans overwhelmingly endorsed Governor Richardson’s aggressive efforts to improve education, cut taxes, build a high-wage economy, expand health care access, invest in renewable energy and make New Mexico safer.
Gov. Richardson, campaigning on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, was invited to Ohio by Ruben Herrera and Lilly Calderon from “Latinos for Obama”. After introduction by Henry Guzman, Gov. Richardson stressed the importance of Ohio, and that’s why he is spending the most of his time campaigning for Obama. He added: “As I come to Ohio, I want you to know that I am going to say to Sen. Obama: The reason you won Ohio is because of the Latino Community.” He stressed the importance of early voting. “Voting early - one, you avoid those long lines, and secondly, if there is a problem with the voting card, you know, we can fix it, we have time to do it, and then lastly, it allows you time to get the familia, the friends, and everybody we know.” He highlighted also the importance of education and the immigration reform.

Last week the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Procter & Gamble with its Bounty, Charmin, Tide, and Pampers brands, announced the opening of 48 scholarships for Latino students pursuing college careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The targeted nature of the contribution underscores the fact that Hispanic professionals are greatly underrepresented in these fields and many students who wish to pursue studies in them cannot afford to pay for a college education. TWO OF THOSE SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED TO DESERVING CINCINNATTI HISPANIC STUDENTS that qualify.
The announcement of this initiative was made HSF President & CEO Frank Alvarez and Edgar Sandoval, General Manager, North America Marketing and Multicultural Business for P&G, at the HSF’s Alumni Hall of Fame event, which honors Hispanics whose success demonstrates the power of higher education and highlights how earning a college degree can change individual lives and society as a whole for the better.
Part of the data that sustains this support is the report from a Congressional Research Service from 2008 on the U.S. Science and Technology Workforce that indicates that science and technology-related professions are among the 30 fastest-growing occupations, with a growth rate of 27 percent compared to the 10 percent average for all other occupations. Sadly, data from the U.S. Census also confirms that only 13 percent of the Hispanic population 25 and older currently holds a bachelor’s degree or higher.
