Kristjan Järvi Returns to Cincinnati for Some Spicey “Latin Nights”
PNC Headliners concerts to feature the CSO debut of Carel Kraayehnof playing the bandoneón
Friday marks the first of Jean-Robert’s Pre-Concert Moveable Feasts
CINCINNATI—The New York Times calls Paavo Järvi’s younger brother Kristjan “a kinetic force on the podium.” Following a dynamic concert on New Year’s Eve with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2007 and conducting the CSO in Cincinnati Opera’s production of Nixon in China in 2008, Kristjan Järvi returns to the Music Hall stage for two exciting PNC Headliners concerts dubbed “Latin Nights” on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3. Both performances start at 8 p.m. and feature the CSO debut of Carel Kraayenhof playing the bandoneón, a South American button accordion composer Astor Piazzolla frequently played and featured in his sensuous Aconcagua Concerto.
Dances from the “gaucho” ballet Estancia and the sounds and rhythms of Revueltas’ Mexican folk music (including a rollicking cadenza featuring 15 exotic percussion instruments) complete this weekend of Latin delights.
"Tres Vidas"has confirmed and they will be coming to NKU onSaturday, Oct. 10, 2009. This show will be in Greaves Concert Hall, in the evening, we will confirm the time later.
“Tres Vidas” (Three Lives) is a live music theatre work for singing actress and trio (cello, piano and percussion), based on the lives of three legendary Latin American women:Mexican painter Frida Kahlo,Argentine poet Alfonsina StorniandSalvadoran peasant-activist Rufina Amaya.
