The international dance sensation BURN THE FLOOR visits you direct from its record-breaking run on Broadway! You've seen Ballroom dance on shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. Now, with BURN THE FLOOR, you will feel, live on stage, all the passion, the drama and the sizzling excitement of 20 gorgeous champion dancers, in a true theatrical experience, a performance with a grace and athleticism that The New York Times calls, "Dazzling!"

From Harlem's hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, BURN THE FLOOR takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble - audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep and Swing.

Our friend, Doreen Beatrice from Step-N-Out Dance Studio in Covington, is organizing on January 15th, a new event called Riverfront DanceSport Festival.

As she states on the event's  Website:

I have organized a popular dance event called the Winter Gala.  It took place in mid- January, always in the Greater Covington/Cincinnati area and included professional and amateur dancers from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. The day was driven by the Tri-State Dance Professionals.  It was designed to emphasize learning with a lecture series combined with showcasing professional and amateur dancers in a theatrical show.  We rounded out the evening with a formal social dinner/ dance.  As the event in 2010 was a success, I had a vision of expanding it to have a more competitive edge.  As I approached my two new organizing partners, Bill Sparks and Gert Roslender with the idea, they were on board without a second thought.  Interestingly enough, Gert resides in Indiana, Bill in Ohio and I live in Kentucky.  We truly represent the Tri-State Region.  We still want to hold true to the original theme by creating part of the event to focus on educational dance seminars, dance exhibitions and a dinner/dance but intend to add competition to the mix.  Please continue to follow the creation of our event and website over the next few months.  We look forward to seeing you next year at the Riverfront DanceSport Festival.

The first ever Networking Meeting of the SHPE Cincinnati Chapter was a total success. Almost 30 people showed up to meet the SHPE Chapter board and members, learn more about the chapter mission and objectives, and listen to two local executives: Miguel Alemany from P&G, and the Keynote Speaker: Scott Ernest,  VP & General Manager from GE.

The also learned about the upcoming 2010 SHPE Conference in Cincinnati (Oct. 27-31), and ways to volunteer and get engaged in the chapter.
