Dayton's Latin Thursdays continued this week in Dayton! DJ Danny D from Miami Beach, FL, was spinning Salsa/Merengue at Sharkeys Poolside (Marriott Hotel), Dayton's hottest summer spot.

Yes, it was raining in the beginning, but that didn't stop local Salseros to come and support the event. When the rain stopped, they were rewarded by nice relaxing evening with hot Latin music.

Finally a positive development for the youth of Cincinnati. Thank to collaboration between the city and over dozen of employers, this Thursday we had the first Mayor's Summer Fair helping to provide jobs for youths this summer.

It took place at the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency in Jordan Crossing shopping center, Bond Hill. The fair was targeting the 14-to-24-year-old age group. The city partnered with Youth Zone and the SuperJobs Center to give young people an opportunity to connect with local employers.

Some of the employers present there were Paramount's Kings Island, Frisch's, Kroger, Home Depot, FedEx, Convergys, Burger King, Rally's, Lowe's Home Improvement, Radisson, YMCA, Enviro Clean Technologies, Palomino, Sentrilock, Elite Protective Services and K Force.

MidwestLatino was featured in May's edition of "The Bottom Line", a monthly publication of NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBAs)

NSHMBA was created in 1988 as a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Widely known as the "Premier Hispanic Organization," NSHMBA serves 29 chapters and 6,500 members in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development. NSHMBA works to prepare Hispanics for leadership positions throughout the U.S., so that they can provide the cultural awareness and sensitivity vital in the management of the nation’s diverse workforce.

2006 is a very important year for the Cincinnati chapter of NSHMBA, as it will host the 17th Annual National Conference of this organization. There are over 7,000 Hispanic MBA's expected to come to the conference, and with this number this will be definitely the biggest gathering of Hispanic professionals in history of Cincinnati.

To become member of NSHMBA, please contact our Cincinnati chapter's Vice President of Membership, Juan Lazarde.

What a week! After teaching senior citizens Merengue an Tuesday (read more here), on Friday it was time to teach kids from a Cincinnati elementary school some funky Latin moves.

It was part of Arts Day in the school, and in addition to Hip-Hop, Swing, and Country dancers, we've been invited to introduce close to 600 kids Grade 1-6 to Salsa and Merengue. It was done in groups throughout the day, with the biggest class having 96 students. It was a great fun and kids loved the Latin dancing!
