Centro de Amistad is pleased to present Northern Kentucky’s best and largest Latino Festival, the Kermesse Latino Festival on June 10-11.

Tri-State vibrant Latino Culture plays an increasingly important role in the area. Whether you are going to a music concert, checking out a museum exhibit, joining friends for a dance lesson, or dining at one of many Latin restaurants, the Kermesse Latino Festival has something for everyone.

As last year, girls ages 6-16 will be able to participate in a “Festival Queen” Pageant: “La Reina del Festival”. If anyone is interested in participating, please contact Iversy Velez at 859-816-7537 by June 1st, 2006.

Cincy-Cinco Festival took place this year on May 6-7 at the Riverbend Plaza.

The tri-state region’s premier Latino cultural fest, is a family-friendly weekend event that showcases Latino culture, values and traditions while promoting the interaction of the Latino community within the tri-state community at large.

Several thousands of people demonstrated on Monday in Cincinnati in support of an immigration reform that would give the undocumented workers a legal status and a path to citizenship. The peaceful demonstration, organized by the Cincinnati Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, took place in downtown Cincinnati, and ending at the Freedom Center.

Despite the cold and rain, close to five hundred people showed up to a candlelight vigil in support of a immigration reform. Organized by the Cincinnati Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, the vigil showed support from different religious groups, incl. the Jewish, Muslim, and various Christian congregations, incl. Cincinnati's famous civil rights leader, Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, who encouraged participants to march forward.

On Friday, April 28, 2006, Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (OCHLA) hosted in Columbus its 2006 Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan Recognition Dinner.

It was definitely a very special moment for MidwestLatino and its founder, Michael Beck, who received the prestigious "Nuestra Famila" Award in recognition for "outstanding service for the Hispanic Community in the state of Ohio".

Other "Nuestra Familia Award" recipients for 2005 were: Home Savings & Loan of Youngstown, Dr. Gregory Stewart from Cincinnati and The Office of Minority Affairs at The Ohio State University.

Recipients of the 2005 Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan Awards were Angie Martinez and Juanita Senquiz from Lorain, Cecilia Roman Gerling and Rich Gandarillas from Columbus, Consuelo Hernandez from Toledo, Juan Santiago of Home Savings and Loan from Youngstown and Nuestro Rincon from Cincinnati.

The first ever Global Fusion Party in Cincinnati was a great success! With eclectic rhythms from around the world by Cincinnati's top DJs: Will Benson, Goeff Gulley and Chris Paul, live Flamenco music by "Vivo Flamenco" and exotic Belly Dancing by Emily from Anaya Gypsy Dance Company, it was definitely something to remember.

Ventana Galeria celebrates Cincinnati Flower Show with "Striking Garden Sculptures" at their new Hyde Park location.
