Events : Our Goodbye to Penguin" Party was AWESOME!
Posted by admin on 2014/1/2 8:20:00 (540 reads)

I couldn't imagine a better and nicer way to say Goodbye to Penguin than our party on Monday! Thanks again to everybody who came last night! It's so great to have so many good friends who share the same passion for Salsa!

This is what a Salsero from Lexington said about our party on Monday and about our Salsa scene:
"It was our absolute pleasure, the best salsa party I've ever been to. The music mix was amazing, varied, modern, and energetic. Thank you! The Cincy crowd are the friendliest, most fun, and enjoyable people to dance with and along. You guys are awesome!"

And I couldn't agree more with him! Cincy Salsa Scene has the best diversity of ethnicities, races, ages, etc. , and it's the most friendly group of people I've encountered! You guys are the reason why Rudy and I are doing it for almost 9 years already! (and, of course, because we both love Salsa  )

SAVE THE DATE: May 2015. We'll be celebrating 10 Years of Salsa Wednesdays by MidwestLatino and DJ Rudy!

Check out pictures from Monday on Facebook:

Business : August 9th Awards Community Luncheon to Honor Latino Baseball Players;
Posted by admin on 2013/8/7 11:20:00 (758 reads)

On Friday, August 9, from 11 am – 2pm, the community is invited to attend an awards luncheon honoring Latino Cincinnati Reds baseball players Aroldis ChapmanJohnny Cueto and Alfredo Simon for their contributions to advancing the city’s Hispanic community.

All attendees will be able to mingle for two hours with these top athletes, but as a special treat, the first 100 Latino families with children will receive free meals as well as tickets to that evening’s Reds game against the San Diego Padres – one of three Hispanic heritage-promoted games this season.

The event, which is presented by both Liberty Tax Service, a subsidiary of JTH Holding, Inc. (NASDAQ:TAX), and the Cincinnati Reds, will be held at Cancun Mexican Bar and Grill (4747 Montgomery Road, Norwood, OH, 45212).

This awards luncheon marks Liberty’s newly formed alliance with the Reds and aims to better connect with Hispanic families by showcasing the beloved game of baseball.  “This is a historic moment for both Liberty and the Cincinnati Reds,” explains Martee Pierson, Liberty Tax Service Director of Diversity Programs and Executive Director of Liberty’s Una Familia Sin Fronteras Foundation. “This event is representative of our new society, where Hispanics are an integral part of the vibrancy and longevity of a city, a community, businesses and sports teams. As a fun way to continue to recognize and celebrate Latinos for their contributions, we gladly invite the public to attend this event–filled with great food and star Latino athletes–and to enjoy a great game.”

Latinos have had a significant presence in the evolution of the “Great American Pastime” since the 1880s. Today, approximately 28 percent of baseball players in major leagues are Latinos with 10 percent hailing from the Dominican Republic. Fittingly, two of the award winners, Cueto and Simon, are from that beautiful island. The third winner, two-time National All-Star, Aroldis Chapman (aka “The Cuban Missile”), is from another Caribbean island, Cuba, which has been producing star players for the team since 1911.

“As a Liberty Tax Services franchise owner, I know first-hand the importance of giving back to the community in which you live,” explains Gina Pinto Williams, who owns the Norwood office with her husband, Michael. “This is an opportunity to also highlight the wonderful contributions that Latinos bring to the game of baseball while at the same time show our appreciation to the community for making our city great.”
