World Fusion Dance w/ Christina Bolden 

A creative and sensuous workout combining Spanish Flamenco with traditional Middle Eastern dance forms.  Class is held Monday nights from 7-8pm,  beginning June 16th and ending August 23rd at Contemporary Dance Theater (www.cdt-dance.org).  No experience is necessary.  Come to get an alternative workout and share in the joy of movement.

Take these workshops and find out what makes this dance so fascinated. The classes will instruct in the fundamentals of Argentine Tango: Walking, Ochos"8" and Turns.

The 2nd Annual Cincinnati Salsa Congress came to an end. It was a great event, and we are looking forward to the 2009 Cincinnati Salsa Congress!

But first, we would like to thank each and every one of the people who came and participated in the Congress. We very much appreciate your support!! This year we had visitors from as far as Nashville, Detroit and Pittsburgh.

Our special thanks to all the teachers:

About “Son del Caribe”: Under the artistic direction of Jaime Morales, music professor at Miami University in Oxford, OH, and a top Salsa musician from Puerto Rico, "Son del Caribe" quickly became the top Salsa band in Ohio. Jaime performed with such Salsa legends as Eddie Palmieri and Gilberto Santa Rosa and the band richly benefits from his experience. Playing Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Son, and Bachata, "Son del Caribe" is a delight for anybody who loves dancing to the hot rhythms of the Caribbean!

The 2nd Annual "Cincinnati Salsa Congress" is coming to Cincinnati on May 23-26 (Memorial Day Weekend).

Four Days of PURE SALSA!!!!

With the best Dance teachers and best Salsa performers in the Midwest!

 

Confirmed Teachers: Ivana Adler (Cincinnati), Eljer Rodriguez (Columbus), Ed Ribar (Cincinnati), Patricia Paz (Cincinnati), Marques Gunter (Indianapolis), Shayne Carter (Indianapolis), Carlos Rubio (Columbus), Lorenzo Harris (Cincinnati), Ryan Christopher (Indianapolis), Israel (Cincinnati), Chimere (Indianapolis) - and more to come!

Inspired by the hit ABC-TV show Dancing with the Stars, Dancing for the Stars will feature six Cincinnati celebrities paired with some of the area’s finest professional dancers in a competition program, at which the audience will vote for their favorite celebrity dancer. The contestants will dance in Swing style to a live band with one of ballroom dancing's most exceptional DJs: Tony Rimkus.

The mission of the Overture Awards is to encourage training in, and appreciation of, the arts, and to recognize and reward excellence in artistic achievement. The Overtures hopes to promote arts education as an integral part of a student's academic experience, while cultivating an environment that fosters continuing arts education and training.
