Sasha Rionda, our beloved Hispanic Anchor/Reporter of 'Nuestro Rincon', Local 12 WKRC, will be leaving Cincinnati and returning to Atlanta. She's made a difference in our city, especially in the Latino community, and we'll be missing her dearly.
Sasha didn't want to leave the city without saying "Goodbye" to her friends, so on Wednesday, March 26th, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM we'll be hosting Sasha's Farewell Party at the Havana Martini Club! After that, there will be Salsa dancing till 1:00 AM, including a special Farewell Dance with Sasha!

2) Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA
The following Tuesday, on March 25th, there will be a Farewell at the monthly meeting of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which is 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The amazing dance group "DanceBrazil" delivered a great performance on Saturday March 22, 2008 at 7:30 pm at Cincinnati Music Hall. Presented by the Cincinnati Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, "DanceBrazil" performed for the first time in Cincinnati. "DanceBrazil" is an electrifying example of the globalization of dance. It offers the best of traditional and contemporary Afro-Brazilian dance, including the sensational martial arts form of capoeira.
The performers of "DanceBrazil" have thrilled audiences around the world for more than 25 years with their unique dance style, and it did the same in Cincinnati. This one of a kind event should not be missed!
All proceeds of this event benefited charitable programs and services of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. The Links, Inc. is a volunteer service organization of committed women concerned with contributing to the formulation of a positive, productive and culturally diverse society. The Links, Inc. also focuses on education, cultural enrichment, health and wellness and civic involvement. This focus is implemented through strategies such as in public information and education, economic development and public policy.

The awards ceremony was held on February 7th in Washington D.C. during the Diversity Leaders Conference.
Keynote speakers included Elaine L. Chao, U.S. Secretary of Labor and Congressman Joe Baca, Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Patricia Perez-Ayala, Vice President North America Fem Care and Lourdes Ribera, Multicultural External Relations accepted the award on behalf of the Company. An upcoming NSHMBA event, “Connecting Firms with Hispanic Talent”, sponsored by Duke Energy, and hosted by Xavier University, will give you an opportunity on Saturday, April 5th, from 11 AM - 4 PM to meet with representatives from local companies across the Greater Cincinnati area. The agenda includes lunch with company representatives, a brief company profile by each attending company, and finally, while company representatives stay at their respective tables, candidates rotate on scheduled timing between all the tables. You’ll have an opportunity to meet all the company representatives. This format provides a much more personal approach than a standard career fair. Plan to arrive on time and stay until the end when we’ll raffle off some great prizes.

Columbus - The Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (OCHLA) announced the selected Awardees for these important recognitions during its monthly meeting. Ten Latino leaders will be bestowed the honor, along with three non-Latino individuals or organizations that have done their utmost in supporting and contributing to the Hispanic community in Ohio.
The Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan Award has been a part of Ohio Latino Affairs for nearly 30 years, tracing back its history to the Distinguished Service Awards of the Commission in the early 1980's. Each spring, commissioners award the "DHO" to Latinos in Ohio for their exemplary service, and the "Nuestra Familia" Award [Our Family Award] to non-Ohioans or non-Latinos who have in some way made a beneficial impact to the Hispanic community in Ohio.
Over one hundred amazing individuals have been recognized for their efforts to serve and strive to make a better Ohio for all.

This Friday, March 14th, a delegation from LULAC Cincinnati (League of United Latin American Citizens), incl. its President, Jason Riveiro, and Vice President, Michael Beck, together with Alfonso Cornejo, President of the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, Father Bill Jansen from the Hispanic Catholic Ministry, and representatives of Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau: Venus Kent and Jason Dunn, presented to LULAC National Board application for hosting the 2011 LULAC National Conference in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is not a stranger to Hispanic/Latino National Conferences. In 2006 we hosted the National Conference of NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBAs). "Our 2006 NSHMBA National Conference in Cincinnati was a huge success, thanks to the support from the city officials, our corporate and university partners, as well as the hospitality of its residents and business owners! I highly recommend Cincinnati to any organization considering it as a location for a large successful convention! “ said Lourdes M. Hassler, CEO National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA), in support of our application for LULAC Conference.
It’s worth to notice that in 2010 we’ll be hosting another Hispanic Organization - the National Conference of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers). In all cases the City of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau, and P&G were the main supporters of bringing those conferences to our city. They worked very hard as a team, successfully competing against other cities, for example, Indianapolis, to bring them to Cincinnati.
The presentation on Friday was very successful (many people said that it was the best from all the cities presenting) and the LULAC's National Board voted to have Cincinnati on the short list. The next step will be to win the general vote at the 2008 National Conference in Washington, DC.
We definitely hope that we’ll be successful in securing the 2011 LULAC conference, as it will have a huge positive economic impact on our city, and it will help to create a positive image of the Cincinnati Latino Community. To join LULAC visit: www.lulacohio.org
