The National Puerto Rican Coalition is seeking applicants for its full-time, one-year Public Policy Fellowship. Candidates must have graduated by the start date in July of 2005, and be no more than two years out of college.

NPRC works to analyze and influence federal policies that affect the 3.8 million Puerto Ricans living on the U.S. mainland and the 3.8 million living on the Island, focusing on education, community economic development, civil rights, health, housing, employment, job training, and welfare; and federal policies dealing with Puerto Rico.

The Public Policy Fellow, who will be supervised by NPRC's Legislative Director, will learn:

* How to monitor federal legislation and identify targets of opportunity to influence the legislative process.
* How to involve grassroots organizations in affecting federal policies on issues of concern to Puerto Ricans.
* Research and analytical skills which can be used to improve the socioeconomic status of Puerto Ricans at large.
* Newsletter preparation for Puerto Rican college students across the US & P.R.

The Fellow will receive $25,000 and health, life, and disability insurance, along with a $3,000 housing stipend to be paid in monthly installments. The one-year fellowship will begin in July 2005. Selection of the fellow will be based on the following criteria:
