The Office of Latino Programs and Services celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month each fall with several activities on campus.

The 2014 keynote speaker is Gilbert Esquivel. Gilbert is a unique voice in stand-up comedy, able to entertain an audience of inner-city youth to a room of senior citizens without missing a beat. His ability to ad-lib has made him a favorite of many television producers to warm-up studio audiences for such shows as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and Star Search and many more. Gilbert started is career at The Ice House Comedy Club. He's also appeared on BET's Comicview, Laffapalooza, and Que Locos. Gilbert won the first Latino comedy search just two years into his comedy and went to perform on such stages as the Apollo Theatre to Ceasers Palace Las Vegas. He has also performed in many churches, prisons, and universities throughout the country, sharing his experiences of growing up all over the United States as a Migrant worker. Please join on October 2, from 8:00-9:00 p.m. in the James C. and Rachel M. Votruba Student Union Multi-Purpose Room 102.

"The Most Interesting Fundraiser In the World... Hot Latin Nights Edition"

What:  Hot Latin Night to support ProKids!  
When:  Friday, October 10th from 6:30pm-10:30pm
Where:  Brainstorm Event Space - 815 Main St. Cincinnati, OH 45202
Cost:  $35 per ticket - proceeds go to Prokids

Gents wear black and ladies bring the Latin spice with a splash of any color.  Enjoy live music by the Amador Sisters, salsa lessons with Bembe Cincinnati, groove to the tunes of DJ Milan, sample savory Latin fare, and discover new ways to "pay it forward" in our community.  

Appetizers, desserts, and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.  Drink tickets will be available to purchase beer and wine.  Raffle tickets will also be for sale for your shot at one of our awesome raffle baskets baskets! 

TOY DRIVE:  Please bring new or gently used toys to donate to ProKids.  All types of toys for all age ranges are accepted.  We will be collecting the toys at check in!   

Tickets are $35 per person and all proceeds raised, (plus donations collected through a toy drive), will be donated to ProKids

The Red's Hispanic Heritage Month cultural group is looking for children 5-15, to be in the Hispanic Heritage Month Parade.

They need to have typical dresses that represent their native country.

The event is on September 7, 2014, at the Reds Stadium, the Great American Ballpark

Kick off your weekend with some Razzle Dazzle at this month’s Art After Dark. Enjoy the flash and excitement of Midwest Latino and friends as they perform in our Great Hall from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. with music by DJ Rudy, and performances by Dare To Dance and the amazing Amador Sisters:Dali Amador and Maillelis Martinez.

In January, over 650 people came to dance with Midwest Latino at Art After Dark!

Docent-led tours of our sparkling, brand new exhibition, Cincinnati Silver: 1788-1940, will meet in the Great Hall at 5:30 p.m. (members-only), 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (open to the general public).

FREE event with drinks and appetizers available for purchase. No reservations required. Parking is only $4 and FREE for Art Museum Members.

The NFL has partnered with Hall of Fame offensive tackle Anthony Muñoz and the Muñoz Agency for the third  year to host NFL PLAY 60 Character Camps this summer as part of the NFL’s year-round Hispanic outreach initiative, focused on offering youth opportunities to play and experience the game of football.

The one-day, non-contact football camp will be hosted on June 25th at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati with support from the Bengals. The camp will welcome approximately 400 predominantly-Hispanic boys and girls ages 9-13 with little or no football experience from local communities.

Camp session will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  (physical Registration opens at 9:30 a.m.)

The mission of the camps is to make a positive impact on youth through teaching football skills, emphasizing exercise, and reinforcing the importance of character in athletics and life.

To participate, you need to submit the registration form as soon as possible, no later than June 13!!!
